This double lesson introduces learners to what motivation is, students reflect on what motivates them. Financial and non financial methods are discussed. Two case studies, two 9 mark questions, one with guidance to help write a model answer.
I have included Maslow’s hierarchy of needs although they do not need to know this for this particular course, however it helps with understanding motivation and extend their knowledge on the topic.

This five lesson bundle starts by introducing learners to revenue, costs and profit. Each of these is broken down to the core, students will get it! Lots of calculation practice to consolidate this. A 9 mark question with a case study and model answer for students to aspire to and peer assess with.
A lesson with a game where students are in groups and must make the most profit by charging the best prices for their business, a live scoreboard to see which team is performing the best.
Break even is broken down to the core also, and again lots of calculation practice. A task to draw BE graphs, the spec doesn’t require this but it will extend their knowledge on the topic.
A case study where we look at the pros and cons of using BE and whether it is useful in a given context.
Finally a lesson on average rate of return, this is broken down step by step, with a few examples so students know exactly what is required, in a concise way so it’s easy to absorb.

This double lesson introduces learners to marketing in a global context, building on the knowledge from theme 1. We start by looking at three main types of marketing strategies then go on to look at’Glocalisation’, and the best example of this which is Mcdonald’s. A short engaging video on how Mcdonald’s has tailored their foods to countries around the world, followed by a concise case study on the same topic for consolidation.
A few activities followed by another concise case study on Mattel and how they launched Barbie in China, but ultimately failed, due to an incorrect marketing strategy. Students attempt a 10 mark exam style question on this, with structure guidance and a model answer provided which can be used for peer asssessment. Finally we look at the Ansoff’s matrix to help decide when risk is involved.

Three lessons here to introduces learner to the impact of multinational companies, we start by looking at Nike as a MNC, then go on to look at Foxconn (usually a company students haven’t heard of until they realise all their electronics are made there).
We look at the pros and cons of MNCs, then go on to read a concise case study on a proposed Dam project by two MNCs in Chile which is met with protests. Structure guidance is given and a model answer to help students with peer assessment and exam technique development.
In the third lesson, we look at GlaxoSmithKline and their role in developing the economies of Africa, a case study showing how they have invested and what their committments are is looked at and disucssed, students have a debate task for and against the effects of GSK on Africa, this is in a 12 mark question form too with a concise model answer to compare debate points with. This lesson introduces learners to resistance to change, we start by looking at a real example in Kodak, before looking at how we can overcome the resistance to change. I have included some popular business models such as McKinsey 7s and Kotters 8 steps as these are change management models followed by businesses around the world, however students are not required to learn these, although it can help greatly in understanding how to manage change and overcome resistance.
We go on to read a case study on a company that is looking to drive major change, students have the opportunity to roleplay a board meeting, each student is a different stakeholder explaining their views on the change. In groups, students are to feedback on the whole case study about the reasons for the change and how to overcome it. A few consolidation tasks and a box plenary to finish with.

The best way to bring this topic to life is to play a hotel game where students are hotel owners and try to make the most profit by changing their prices over a period of months - students can see their live profit after each month.
We start by introducing the concepts of revenue, cost and profit through step by step animated examples before playing the hotel game. A few calculation activities to consolidate the formulas learnt by students with answers provided on the board for students to peer assess with.

Lots of calculation practice to consolidate the formula, we then look at the pros and cons of using break even analysis, this is used for the exam style question which is based on a concise case study of a cake manufacturer. This double lesson introduces learners to supply and the factors which influence it. We start by looking at why suppliers supply, once students grasp it is for the incentive of profit we look at examples which can affect supply. We then go on to illustrate these impacts on diagrams with shifts in the supply curve - all broken down so students can grasp it quickly.
We then have two four mark questions, both with concise case studies on a car manufacturer and the supply of houses, guidance on the assessment objectives required and concise model answers for students to look at when peer assessing. Two links to kahoot quizzes and a box plenary to finish with.

This set of resources includes 2x ppts, 4 words files and can be delivered over 3-4 lessons. Learners are introduced to ways of raising capital from within and outside the business. We look at the various types of finance with their pros and cons. We then look at a concise case study of a firm that requires capital but wants to only use internal finance - a 12 mark question on this with structure guidance and a concise model answer for students to use when peer assessing. A peer assessment grid and how it is used by examiners is provided for students to make improves on WWW and EBI.
We then go on to consolidating the knowledge with some matching and recall activities before a group activity, students are put into groups and given scenarios that require finance, students decide which sources of finance are most appropriate for scenario and present ideas back to class. Class then decides who the weakest link is (encouraging application and evaluation skills)
A case study and 12 mark question on venture capital is included, structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided to help students develop their exam technique. A link to a kahoot quiz and box plenary to finish off with. I have found this to be a very engaging set of lessons personally.
